Different User Roles in WordPress
It is necessary to learn about the 5 different types of user role available on a WP website so that you can assign the role to new join easily and provide limited capabilities.
- Administrator: The administrator holds the supreme power and can manage posts, pages, comments, plugins, themes, settings, and assign different roles to the users. The administrator is powerful enough to delete the complete blog.
- Editor: The editor can publish the pages or the posts and can manage them as well. He/she can upload the files and moderate the comments too, and can even manage the posts of other users on the blog too.
- Author: The author is allowed to upload the files and write, publish & edit own posts. The author cannot edit someone else’s posts.
- Contributor: The contributor is allowed to write the posts, but doesn’t hold the capability to publish the post. The contributor’s post is submitted for the review to the administrator or editor of the site.
